It’s important to us that you know we’re not a faceless corporation. We are the designers who do the consultation, create the design, make the arrangements, deliver and set up. So here’s some information about us.∨
Qualified to design
Lisa: Horticulture and Floristry/Business Studies.
Kate: Art and Design/Textiles, Crafts and Floristry.
Lisa – I love creating and making almost anything! I’ve always enjoyed using my hands and mind to design. I’m inspired by nature and everyday objects, which is why I find creating flowers for others very rewarding.
Kate – I love figuring out how things work and creating just for fun. My biggest passion is flowers. I love the colours, shapes, textures and natural design; it’s just beautiful. Creating with flowers is challenging and exciting and I enjoy using my knowledge and skills to bring an idea to life. I’m proud to be part of someone’s special day – I think that’s the most satisfying part.
How did you get into floral design?
Lisa – I studied as a landscape designer and chose to specialise in floristry, so I began my working life at my local florist. Needing a new challenge, I moved over to Manchester and got to work on events all over the country. Again, it was time to change it up, so I moved to Bermuda to broaden my knowledge and experience the industry in a different country. I stayed for six years, managing a large floral retail and event company. Eventually, I decided it was time to move back to the UK and pursue my original goal – to set up a floral design company so I could help people express their personalities and emotions through flowers.
Kate – After studying Art and Design I found my passion working at a small florist in Manchester. I was totally hooked, so I retrained to earn my qualifications at college and then moved around so I could learn as much as possible about the industry. I worked in Bermuda for three and a half years, which really developed my floral design experience and business acumen. Working on events both in Manchester and around the world has given me a wealth of organisational skills and I’m now a qualified teacher – my passion for the industry keeps growing more and more each day. The most important thing to me is that you never stop learning.
What does the future hold?
Lisa and Kate – We both want to have fun and be happy with what we do, so this isn’t a job to us, it’s a vocation. We keep our tradecraft traditions alive – it’s so important, especially as the world is becoming so reliant on virtual environments. We always look for new challenges and inventive ways to work with flowers and materials to wow our customers. Our dream is to create a company known not only for its floral skills, but for its ethics, service and professionalism. Enthusiasm and creativity are at the heart of what we do and we believe in being genuine, dedicated and professional. We’re both perfectionists and we’d like to be thought of as visionaries within our industry.
